It’s all subjective criticism, so I don’t really mind the current version here, it’s fine as it.
No, some TF2 weapons have a sort of “worn” look to them, look at the Heavy’s Minigun, Sniper’s SMG, most of Soldier’s Rocker Launchers, etc.
They all have worn/rusted/textured looks to them.
Right now it looks alright, but I feel like it could fit better if it had those worn layers added to them.
Perhaps using the warpaint overlays would make it look worn but still give off a TF2-esc design?
