Oh I see. I'm not playing as the Howler, I just don't like the Jockey so I wanted something to spice up the gameplay a little, since the Howler's a better addition than a reskinned Hunter.

When any infected (not the Howler specifically) spawns too far from the survivors, they get kicked after a few seconds, but I see why you'd do that now.

To keep despawning while also preventing the Howler from despawning i had to implement custom code to bring despawning back.

If its kicking infected players that's something I can fix.

Surprised youre playing versus w the honkler cuz I thought it crashed whenever someone took control as one

This mod kicks far away (from survivors) Special Infected for some reason, including infected players.

Recently the howler has been more durable idk why, and fire mkes he move 10x faster even when flashed with flashlights, makes the game more fun i just wish it spawned more often

Too quiet + too hard to see since he can blend in which makes it rather annoying than scarier. Make him a bit louder and more visible at least.

This is a perfect addition to create a true horror atmosphere for this game!

I actually DO LOVE this mod! <3
However I also noticed some minor drawbacks, as well did some people below in the comment section. These minor details might be improved and corrected to achieve prime horror experience!

Here are some of my ideas for authors:

1) Change "JOCKEY!" call out sounds for survivors when they see Howler with: "-Ruuuun!" - "Oh ♥♥♥♥!" - "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! RUUUN!" or even replace it with survivor screams to show that they actually terrified!
For example: Rochelle have a voice line "This is not happening... this is not happening..." which perfectly describes situation, in which survivors could possibly face The Howler;

2) Replace default Jockey's *BACTERIA MUSIC* - let's say with OST "FADE" from game "OMORI".
Imho it's very fitting for Howler's spooky vibe and appearance;

3) I'm not too sure how difficult it would be to implement this in the game, but programm BOT teammates to AVOID Howler and PREVENT THEM FROM SHOOTING at it. Bots just keep waste their weapon store on this ♥♥♥♥...


This is it for now. But it would be a pleasure for players (especially for me ngl XD) to see you add these imorovements for Howler. Peace! :er_heart:

I'm retracting my previous comment because, after I published the other one I got to playing with the mod again and found it wasn't total B.S and was kinda easier this time. All those other times I just got unlucky with the bots getting stuck somewhere and dying, but luckily they cut that ♥♥♥♥ out.

The only complaint I have now is that during day campaigns it feels somewhat empty with the Jockey not appearing, and it'd be cool if we could have them swap when it goes from day to night.

I give it an honest 8.9/10.

so uhh... nobody knows how easy it is to deal with this thing??

- there's a music cue when it spawns.
- its very loud and easy to tell where its coming from.
- when bots see it, they shoot it constantly so you know when it's there.
- just burn it as soon as you know where it is and move back as much as you can.
- nightmare isn't really intended to be played with bots anyway. its playable with them, but they don't know how to avoid it. much like how in vanilla they don't avoid tanks once someone goes down. so just move back, they'll follow you.
- it might not even spawn at all.

this is far from the hardest part of nightmare you guys. you just gotta not rage quit after meeting it for the first time.

@ wretched feline My friend and I met once. After lighting it with fire, it took a long time to destroy it.
Maybe this could be made into a VScript special infected like one comment below me said. Make it spawnable alongside normal Jokceys. All it's stats and very low spawn chance (like 1%) are kept. But now it's killable, BUT it has a ♥♥♥♥ ton of health, maybe a bit more than the Tank.

Great idea and concept. Worst execution ever. Is there any reason why he has to instant kill you? Like that is the most unfair mechanic I've seen yet. It's even worse when you are in a closed area. If he shows up and you had nowhere to go, you're completely done for.

This is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen on this workshop and it has great potential, but unfortunately that's the only thing it has. It only replaced the Jockey, but is still labeled as one, so bots will stand there and accept death, and boss types can still spawn along side it. 0/10

Howler isn't showing/spawning in tumtara maps as well as trying to spawn it with commands. It was working just fine for me a couple of hours ago

The green flu mutation? more like Ghostbusters 2019. How does this have anything to do with a zombie outbreak exactly? You lazily removed the jockey from the game. You're breaking steam ToS, I payed money for this game, on sale, and you're making mods that remove content from it, this is basically Helms Deep all over again. Doesn't help that this mod insists upon itself.

I find it really funny how many people within the last 3 days keep repeating the same thing about The Howler being unkillable.

I know what video this is coming from, guys. He even says himself that the Howler can actually be killed now and I do actually appreciate the video, and tbh the version of the Howler he played with 2 months ago (which was when he seemed to play it based on what stuff was in it and what wasn't) was WAY more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and less refined than the version that exists now.

I will always appreciate criticism for the stuff I make, but the least you guys can do is make sure that said criticism is actually accurate. It makes me feel like some of you guys never even played with it and are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on something for the sake of it, which isn't helpful to anyone.

no matter which dynamic it is, i always found the howler soft locking campaigns which is just an auto losing continuation with the modpack. not really fun
