Description
MASSIVE shoutout to ChimiChamo for helping me with the logic of this, without him I almost certainly wouldn't have been able to get this damn thing to work.

Instead of being able to beat Campaigns at your leisure - slamming your head against the wall infinitely until it inevitably breaks apart - now you have complete the Campaign within the constraint of LIMITED CONTINUES!

The basic gist of the mod is so:

  • The Survivor team starts the campaign with 2 Continues.
  • When the team wipes (aka the Survivors are Overwhelmed), the team loses a Continue.
  • If the team wipes with no Continues remaining, the Campaign is over and the team is booted back to the lobby to retry from the very beginning.

In the spirit of fairness and balance, This mod also makes it so that if a Survivor team makes it to the Saferoom with all Survivors alive, the team gains an additional Continue (up to 9). This is regardless of the NUMBER of Survivors on the team, so whether you have 8 Survivors on your team or you're a party of one, as long as everyone makes it to the end alive, everyone will gain a Continue.

This system was inspired by Back 4 Blood's continue system. As much as that game is unoriginal mediocre dogwater, the Continue system is about the only thing I found even slightly interesting from a gameplay standpoint. Of course, just like everything else about the game it was poorly executed because you only ever had like 2 Continues with no way to gain more. So this is me basically making a better game than Back 4 Blood.

It might just be an odd glitch but if this is the mod in the nightmare pack that says "Game Over" in the chat, I ran into this weird bug on official and non official maps, as well as campaign (single player) and mutations alike where the game would start to fade, say Game Over, the music would play and as soon as it was black, flicker back to the when and start the "Game Over" sequence again.

I'm not at my computer at the moment but there are script errors that pull. Again, it might be coming from the "full download" zip on the nightmare mod, but has anyone heard of this? I mean I love the idea but.. I can't even start a vote to restart campaign. 😂

OMG! I LOVE how it says "You are safe!" instead of "All the survivors are safe!" whenever you're the only player on the team (as in the single player, not like everyone else is dead)

easy version: overload your local server with mods so it crashes on a team wipe.

it would work, it would only count as a game over if it started to play the game over theme and the screen was fading to black, if that doesnt happen, doesn't count as a wipe

does this work for smarter ai mods? like when you die but the bots keep moving to the safe house, does that count as a teamwipe or not?

So what you are saying is that this mode does not work on some, if not most, mutations including custom ones?

If so, that would explain why I can't loose lives when playing on a custom mutation mode I play on called True Veteran. Any how from my end could I get it to work for that mutation again?
