Borealis is now on indefinite hiatus

Hello everyone

I expect this may be the last announcement that's posted here in this group, but we've decided that as of right now, we will be putting Project Borealis on indefinite hiatus, citing multiple community-based and financial issues in maintaining the server.

While there were some great people who made up the community, we also had a fair share of troublemakers who caused us ceaseless headaches. Being griefed several times because people 'got bored' seemed to be a constant factor which demotivated us with every instance it occured.

Add to that no one was able to contribute to keep the server running, we just failed to see any financial or personal reason to keep the project going. We'll probably revisit it at some point, but under a new name, and with new rules and systems. For the time being, we're going to take a break from managing the server and concentrate on getting into the right mindset for the new server, once we feel we're ready to implement it.

Project Borealis is no more. Long live Project Borealis.

P.S. For the people who did contribute to the server, we'll be posting links to you with a copy of the server map so you can download and preserve your creations.

1.8 Client is out - 1.8 Server is not!

Hello everyone!

Well, it seemed like forever, but 1.8 is finally out... for clients that is.

Oh yeah, the server version is out, if you play vanilla, but Borealis runs on CraftBukkit so we can have all our nifty plugins, and since there's no stable release for a 1.8-compatable build, the server will not be functioning until further notice.

Once the stable build is out, we will immediately update the server and then everyone can play again.

Oh, and before I forget - We are not starting new maps with this release, snow biomes aren't complete, as are many other features. We'll be waiting until 1.9 to implement our huge changes.

Hey guys, not sure if any of you are going to read this, but I started a server with a friend. It's still in some basic works and none of the worlds are to be permanent, only tests for now, but it'd be cool if any of you guys wanted to come on and play and help you with the overall server experience. Anyways, thanks guys.

Also, this is Chaingunner334 if you didn't know that by the end of this comment.
