Critical Issue with Steam Remote Play: Constant Crashes
Hello,

For the past few hours, Steam Remote Play has stopped working correctly. Every time I try to connect with a friend, the screen goes black and the program crashes immediately. Both of us can launch the game locally without any issues, but the Remote Play features do not work at all.

We have already tried:

Restarting Steam and our computers.

Ensuring Steam is fully updated.

Trying different connection methods within the game (menu, selection screen, in-game).

None of these steps have solved the problem. This issue makes Remote Play completely unusable, and it’s very frustrating. We would appreciate urgent support to fix this, as it worked perfectly before.

Thank you.

Trust me i've been through every single method plus steam support who just told me nothing they could do. It isn't just you and it looks like a steam wide problem as another discussion has tons of people with the same issue.

Yep. Steam deck won't let me remote into my desktop. My games are available, it gives me the option to stream and connect, but it goes back to the big picture mode on steam deck after a few seconds. I'm going to bet that it has something to do with that silk song game.
Steam remote play constantly crashing all of a sudden

At this point I'm thinking it's incompetence. Especially since the Steam Support reply to me about it was basically "it's your problem, you should look into it"

Remote Play is down for all platforms. Windows, Linux, Steam Deck, and more. Affecting all games.

Steam support has not acknowledged the issue after nearly 3 days. You can find more info here:

There is a work around however until Steam Support wakes up:
- Update your client to the "Beta" version.
- Update your friend's client to the "Beta" version.

This works because the Beta version doesn't have the same invalid SSL certificate.

Please also open a Steam Support ticket! This will hopefully help them realise there is a global issue.

I was going insane. i tried port forwarding and reinstalled a bunch of crap. Just updated both host and streaming clients to steam beta and it worked. i am so annoyed how simple it was.
Lemme know when they actually decide to fix the issue.
