Our History

The Galactic Marines, originally known as the 21st Nova Corps was an elite unit in the Grand Army of the Republic. GMs were specialized in fighting on every terrain, whether it be Tatooine or Hoth. The GMs wore specialized maroon or white armor that differed from the standard clonetrooper armor. GMs were distinguished by unique synthmesh visor gear. It was designed to keep out sand, snow, airborne fungus, and ash. They utilized the UT-AT, AT-OT, and AT-RT walkers. All of the GMs' vehicles had purple markings to match their armor. Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and clone commander CC-1138 "Bacara" led the GMs. They were made independent from the 4th Sector Army and changed their name from the 21st Nova Corps to the Galactic Marines. GMs were trained to fight on the ground and in space. This made them extremely versatile. They specialized in boarding and capturing enemy starships as well as planetary assault and were deployed to many planets. Bacara were tough on his men as he wanted them to be the best. He wouldn't tolerate anyone who didn't meet his high standards. Anyone who didn't meet his standards would be reassigned from the GMs. Their vigorous training set them apart from the other troopers, they were a force to be reckon with. To be a Galactic Marine, you must be the best. There were three phases of training for the GMs. Phase 1: Conditioning, Phase 2: Underwater and in-space boarding, and Phase 3: Marksmanship. These training courses made the Galactic Marines the most elite fighting force of the GAR.
At the Battle of New Bornalex, the Marines used prototype spacetrooper suits. The weapons systems on their suits had failed, but they were determined to fight on. They engaged the super battledroids in hand-to-hand combat. They were victorious in defeating the Separatist forces. Their actions that day earned them a fierce reputation in the GAR. After the Galactic Empire was formed the Galactic Marines were known as the Imperial Galactic Marines.
