Hubris isnt the definition of pride. It's definition is "Irrational Pride or arrogance" and yes it always comes before the fall, that is the implied outcome when the word hubris is used. arete is pretty much the conquering of hubris, if I really was an arrogant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I would use that term.
