ABOUT C.A.D.E.R.S

This group is for individuals interested in Casual, Retro, and Indie games.

C.A.D.E.R.S stands for Casuals And Devotees (of) Everything Retro Society. It, 'Caders, is also short for Arcaders or fans of games you would find in arcades (say "We Are Caders"). A large number of digitally distributed titles would fit into the categories of games CADERS covers.

Casual games include everything from games by Popcap (Bejeweled to Peggle) to board (and card) games to Minesweeper and Flash games and games on iPhones. These games are said to be more "relaxed" (or casual) but a number of casual games in the "skills" category can be very demanding on players. The name is mostly used to differentiate these games from games considered appealing to "hardcore" videogame players, and games like Modern Warfare, which are noted for their edginess and violence.

Retro games include home and console games, normally sprite based (and cartridges for home), but can also include pinball machines, and electro-mechanical games. These games would be considered part of the "arcade" era of videogames, and would go up to about the time period of the Neo-Geo in the arcade. These games have play mechanics not seen as frequently today. Also newly created games that are in keeping with the art style and play mechanics of yesteryear would fit here. Games like Street Fighter 4 would fit this.

Indie games consists of content that is generated by small development teams, usually independent of mainstream publishers. Such content, by the small size of teams, will often have a feel of retro games of the past, and will often pander to them. Indie game designers carry on the spirit of games of the past today.

Any game that isn't considered "Hardcore", and would be consider of casual or retro nature, has a home here. So, if you are into these things, come on board.

Thanks to the Sharing program and one of my buddies, I got to try out that RPG Evoland and wow, that game is simply amazing! The RPG starts off in black and white, plays like classic Zelda, as you progress through the game, you unlock new "features" which evolves the game as you play. You'll unlock stuff like 8-bit color, scrolling, 3D, turn based combat, "Mode 7" graphics, and it just keeps going and going. If you are a long time fan of RPGs, you'll love this game!

It's hard to say since there are soooooo many on Steam that fall into Casual, Retro, and Indie gaming. I would suggest Terraria, great indie game with a retro vibe. Also, I noticed you have Shadow Warrior Classic Redux up, did you know the original Shadow Warrior Classic (1997) is totally free here on Steam?

It seems I do not own a single game from the "Associated Games" list.
