Updated Achievements & Car Braking

Hey everyone! We’ve just pushed a new update to Carbox with a few tweaks and improvements:

All cars now brake more effectively, about 1.5× stronger braking overall
When you earn Gold in a race, you’ll now also unlock Silver and Bronze for that same event
Some of the larger achievements have been removed to make 100% completion more accessible

how do we share our maps?

is there a feature in-game to share like in halo 3's forge mode or is there some sort of third party site where all creations go? if its the latter might i recommend utilizing steam's workshop?

Demo won't run

I'm trying to launch the demo, but the game won't run, my specifications are ok, but the game always has black screen.

Always online required = no play

If you make the game playable offline, i'll buy it. Otherwise no. The servers for this game won't exist 2 years from now.

I rarely post negative reviews but this game is extremely unfun and fails on its core elements.

Somehow the driving is sticky, slippery and stiff at the same time and the game tells you after 5 levels to use handbrake for corners but that is just guarantee slam into the wall, only way to somewhat control your car in corners was for me to completely let go of acceleration and it would start turning bit better. What about air control then? well you get all the control where you don't need it and will slam into nearest obstacle with the slightest touch of movement key.

So this game fails as a casual/arcade racer but okay I can ignore that and do all the achievements anyways, oh wait a second the devs have lost their collective mind with these achievements; finish 10000 races, get 500 gold/silver/bronze medals. What an absolute joke, you need to separately grind all those 3 medals since gold doesn't count as all so sometimes you would have to just play slower just to get worse medal for progression.

This game ruined my day.

Editor is wasting my time

Every now and then the editor doesn't save my changes. I'm working on a bigger map right now and losing several hours of progress is really frustrating. Everytime i have this issue its foreshadowing itself by showing an empty list where my maps should be (doesn't even show other users maps). After restarting the game the levels are showing up again but any of my changes of the last session are wiped. Had this problem with all of my maps/tracks/cities now and it is no fun doing the same things over and o...

Our First Update Is Out: Xmas Edition 🎄

We’ve just released a free Christmas update for CARBOX, bringing new content and improvements to the game!

What’s new in this update:

New Xmas Campaign. A brand-new set of challenge missions featuring 4 new races.
New Christmas-themed assets have been added to Snowland so you can build festive tracks and maps.
1 extra Unlockable car
New event type: Xmas-Taxi. Deliver elves and presents to their destinations in this special festive taxi challenge.
We’ve added an icon to show when a map is saving, and a message that appears if a disconnection occurs when working on a map
2 New Achievements to unlock
New top camera added (experimental)
Some challenges have been slightly rebalanced
When playing with keyboard, the handbrake has been reassigned to the spacebar.

We are deactivating the demo for now. Due to the nature of the game and its server updates, maintaining the demo requires a lot of management time, so we’re focusing fully on the complete game experience.

Race little toy cars that handle like realistic full size cars.

I LOVE the style of toybox tiltshift toycars racing through little playsets. I do not love the handling of the cars. I thought this was going to have arcadey controls that let me fulfil my childlike fantasies of speeding through my handcrafted race tracks with ease. However they made the cars feel slow and unresponsive. The drifting is simply just not good and never really felt good to pull off on any of the various vehicles. If the cars handled differently then this would have been a perfect gem but instead I was just frustrated with the games driving by the end of my playthrough.

I recommend this game if you want to feel like a child whose hands were destroyed in a mysterious accident so your parents have to now play with your toy cars but they drive them like adults obeying the rules of the road and not a child full of wonder and limitless speed.
