having same issue, mod works perfectly in singleplayer but as soon as I play with friends, everythings broken

you might have to re install gredwitch if you did it and it still the same you might need to re-install gmod and it will work again

Same here, I assume it's maybe an incompatibility issue. As to what mod the issue is resulting from, I have no idea.

the error that stops explosion effects is caused by drones from my testing so remove that and see if it fixes effects

I have found a workaround around this issue by using the following mod:
https://test1.login.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2885846408 and running the command:
By running this command after you loaded into the game, the explosions appear back.
I have confirmed it with a friend while he was on the server.

it also does it with vfire all of the sudden

It is some compatibility issue, as if you run only Gred on your gmod, with all other addons turned off, explosions work just fine
and its not an effect addon that does that, i turned off all effect/fps boost/optimization addons and it still happens

Turned off ArcCW and ULTRAKILL npc addons, everything fixed fully
