🔧 Prep & Loadout
🛡️ Recommended Gear:
Item Type Recommendation
Shield Silver Knight Shield or Balder Shield (both can parry and have decent fire resist)
Armor Medium or light set for roll mobility (e.g. Black Knight Set, Elite Knight Set)
Weapon Fast weapons for parrying/ripostes (Longsword, Balder Side Sword, Rapier)
Pyro/Magic Optional – not very effective due to Gwyn’s aggression
Rings 🔘 Havel’s Ring (for armor load) or 🔘 Cloranthy Ring (stamina regen)

🔥 Fire Resistance Matters:
Use Flame Stoneplate Ring or armor like Black Iron Set if you're not parrying.

📜 Strategy 1: Parry & Riposte (Best Method)
Gwyn is highly vulnerable to parrying, and this makes him one of the easiest final bosses if you’re comfortable with timing.

Parrying Basics:
Use a parrying shield (e.g., Buckler, Target Shield, or any small/medium shield).

Parry when Gwyn lunges forward or does a 3-hit combo.

Riposte immediately after a successful parry for massive damage.

Timing Tips:
Most of Gwyn's swings are very rhythmic.

His first attack when you enter the fog gate is always parryable — a great chance to start strong.

✅ Practice parrying humanoid enemies (e.g. Balder Knights, Black Knights) before the fight.

🛡️ Strategy 2: Tank & Punish (No Parry Needed)
If you’re not comfortable parrying:

Step-by-Step:
Equip a high stability shield (Black Knight Shield, Greatshield of Artorias).

Circle strafe to Gwyn’s right (your left).

Block his combo, then punish with 1–2 hits after his third swing.

Back away to reset stamina, heal when safe.

Avoid his grab attack — roll back when you see him extend his arm forward.

Watch for:
Lava sword trail = higher fire damage.

Kick or grab = punishable, but dangerous if you're not quick.

⚡ Strategy 3: Pyromancy/Spells (Risky)
Gwyn is extremely aggressive, making it hard to get casting time. Only use magic if:

You’re good at dodging.

You use Iron Flesh to tank and cast while safe.

Or, you're doing a cheese strat with Poison Mist behind pillars (not very effective).

💡 Tips & Tricks
🔁 Practice at the Kiln: Black Knights respawn here — great warm-up.

🔥 Use Fire-Resist Consumables (like Flash Sweat) if going melee.

🧎‍♂️ Summon Solaire (if you kept him alive!) at the Kiln entrance — he'll distract Gwyn.

❌ Don’t get greedy — 1 or 2 hits max per opening.

💀 His grab = instant death at low Vit — roll backward to avoid.

🏆 What Happens After?
Once Gwyn falls:

Choose:

-🔥 Link the Fire = become the next Lord of Cinder.

-🚶‍♂️ Walk away = start the Age of Dark (the "Dark Lord" ending).

✅ Summary
Action Best Option
Best Strategy Parry + Riposte
Safest Strategy Tank with high stability shield
Summon Help Solaire (if alive)
Armor/Weapon Focus Fire resistance + fast melee weapons
Worst Mistake Greedy attacks or misreading grab move
