Probably many of you have discovered that the game has an FPS lock, regardless of any in-game setting, which is the default FPS lock of Unreal Engine 3 (the engine of the game). The lock is at 62fps so the game doesn't let FPS go above 62.

And nope, that's not Vsync, so before making any modifications, make sure Vsync is turned off.

Instructions

First, go to:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config

There you will find a TdEngine.ini file.
Open it in a text editor like Notepad. There you will find a line that says:

bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE

Here, change TRUE to FALSE, and save the file!
Launch the game and you are good to go. It will run at the highest framerate possible.

But in the Config folder I did not find a TdEngine.ini, du a DefaultEngine.ini,which is clearly not the same. I don't need to say,that I didn't find bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE there...
So this guide was not really helpful to me.'' Yeah same.

Best guide yet, as of November 2025, without these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ telling you to turn off PhysX.

I have uncapped the fps using mirrors edge tweaks and I know certain missions bug with high fps now my question is from all the research I've done the game seems to not accept live commands other then key binds is there a work around to change the fps live so you don't have to close the game change the fps and reopen every time you get to certain missions?

For me its better to set MaxSmoothedFrameRate on 144.

Perfectly works and does not cause any bugs. Things to note:
- The file is best set to write protected.
- Settings changed after write protection is applied will revert on restart.
- I play WITHOUT Vsync, which is probably the reason I don't get any bugs.

Just minimize the game and hold the 'w' key while maximizing the window to go through the softlock in mission 9
