cs2 is prettier than csgo and has a few extra core gameplay features, but at the cost of an immense breadth of official and community content with no easy way to port said content to this version of the game. this is one step forward and three steps back. i understand the dilemma of limited developer resources, and that allocating them to supporting an older/"inferior" version of the game seems counterintuitive, but the reason why counter strike at large has had such a prolific reputation for decades is its support for community content and its continued wide availability. erasing a huge part of counter strike's history - and a whole decade of effort poured into the content made for it - in the interest of promoting an update is counter to what made the game fundamentally different from many shooters of its kind that have come and gone.

oops, lol! how did that link get there? it would sure be a shame if people collectively notified vrchat's private investors (their main revenue stream) that the game is being mismanaged and rendered inaccessible to a huge amount of paying customers

Actually one of the most entertaining multiplayer experiences you can have in any video game, and it's free. Although optimization isn't the best and there are more than a few bugs with this new update (namely void room), it actually adds to the charm of this game for me. I really enjoy this and I'm looking forward to what the team does next with this game!

I cannot, in good faith, recommend Pixeltail's standalone recreation of what was originally Garry's Mod Tower, or simply GMTower. Optimization is horribly done, and plazas have been limited to 30 players due to their inability to support large quantities of players. The community is woefully soulless, potentially as a result of this player fragmenting. Asset and shading issues are rampant. But the primary reason for my inability to recommend this game is the fact that it is stuck in a web of feature creep - new features being continually added without rhyme or reason, delaying the final release of the game ever farther away, and with it the open sourcing of GMTower, which has been forcably made into abandonware by Macklin, the head of Pixeltail. He has unfortunately seen fit to take down every fan reproduction of the original game on Garry's Mod. Former members such as Foohy, who saw where the wind was blowing as feature creep began entering the fray, are the reason why Macklin has a platform to do what he's doing now, and are most likely displeased to see the heavy handedness of Macklin's actions to censor their content on the platform that gave them the leeway to create Tower Unite. The game, as it stands, is simply a cheap reproduction of what GMT once was. This is not due to sheer content, as Tower Unite's more modern engine allows for greater freedoms. Instead, it is due to the destruction of the community aspect that was so paramount to the "Tower" genre as a whole, and thus removes one of the most essential pieces of the game. Of course, the nature of Macklin's actions against the recreations are legally questionable at best, but I'm not reviewing this to create a legal analysis of his argument. The primary point is that his reasoning is fallacied and he is effectively abusing the legal system to protect his "golden goose" from a Garry's Mod gamemode that he himself developed in the past.

Overall, Tower Unite is an attempt to imitate a game that worked so much better as it was, and will never achieve the same effect as its predecessor. Macklin's "Reunion" version of GMTower was created to address the backlash of his threatening legal actions on a minor in one case of his censorship, which was plastered with advertisements for this game and is now thoroughly dead as a result.

This game is absolutely visceral. I cannot even begin to describe how good it feels to hit a ball at light speed into your adversaries. Buy it so I can keep playing online, because oh my god is it good.

I can't see why EA would abandon this game with all of it's potential. It's addicting, fun, and has mod support. What else could you ask for?
