my experience is not at all like the "mostly negative" reviews. I play this game for fun. maybe a few times a week. rarely have connection issues and no complaints about the matchmaking system.

people tend to forget it's only a game - you'll come across people who are better than you as well as those who are worse than you. that's just how it is.

the steam version is great. you may find that the battlenet launcher's version allows you to select which region to play on, but in-game, they'll still put you in whatever server you have the best latency on.

it is refreshing to see an indie game disclose their use of AI on the store page like Asbury Pines. actually the first game I've ever seen on Steam to do that. many people are still concerned with how extensive AI's involvement was, and the dev replied in this thread:

Hey there, appreciate the concern and sorry about the confusion over our initial AI disclosure.

To be clear: there are no AI assets, art, or writing in Asbury Pines -- all of it is hand-crafted by the developers.

We used AI to concept/brainstorm some ideas for our art (like what would snail stables look like). I don't know if that means we need to put an AI disclosure, but we felt it's more respectful to the community to be fully transparent rather than not.

slow, buggy, and has lots of random freezes. i recall playing another one of this studio's game "Cats and Cups" for about 20 minutes before refunding due to the same reasons.

it's clear this studio has found their niche, considering they pump out about 1-2 cozy games every month now (check their publisher profile lol). unfortunately "Carefully Stamped" is another one of their generic cozy slop clearly cashing in on the cozy game trend.

wow! one of the only truly disturbing horror games i've played in recent years. my heart stopped a handful of times. there were so many moments where i felt petrified with a sinking pit in my stomach in the comfort of my own home. it is such a unique experience, i have never seen anything like it.

there is no jumpscares, no sudden loud noises, no adrenaline pumping chase sequence, just pure anxiety and terror slowly manifesting in various different ways

a 10/10 recommendation if you are looking to try something new

no borderless fullscreen
not recommended if you have an ultrawide screen. alt tabbing is very glitchy
otherwise, game is super fun. will change my review once borderless mode is added :(

honestly don't even waste your time. this is a "game" about struggling to confess romantic feelings to a friend. probably made by a creepy incel who has never had friends or love interests irl
DO NOT DO THIS ! DO NOT BEFRIEND SOMEONE WITH THE INTENTION OF GETTING WITH THEM ROMANTICALLY DOWN THE LINE! that is predatory behaviour.

tl;dr: game for weird people

I don't relate to this game. I've never had depression. Don't get this game if you're normal.

played this around pandemic times. i have vivid memories of playing this in a discord call with the dev himself. he explained a bunch of crap about random mechanics that were broken/unexplained. seemed like he wasn't very confident in his own stuff. i refunded the game right after.
5 years later, still in early access, lul. don't waste your money

I guess I am the first to review this DLC? It's pretty underwhelming. You get 1000 Platinums + 1 pet bird. The store page for this thing doesn't even show what the pet looks like, so I will show you it: It's a white/gray bird with red eyes. No special VFX when moving. Kinda cool. Not worth it. Pic 1 Pic 2

I don't recommend this game because I don't find the male protagonist attractive. Please choose better looking actors next time, thanks.
