I'm still pissed AF at the story, but the gameplay is absolutely amazing.

Not technical issues for the most part.

The game runs flawlessly. Easily one of the best launching ports in recent times.

As for the game itself, if you ever played HDZ 1 (and there shouldn't be a reason for anyone to buy Forbidden West without playing HDZ 1), basically that, but better, bigger and more refined.

I've play this game half a dozen times. I played it first when it launched, then I played the PS4 remaster, and then the PS5 remake, multiple times each.

Let's start by saying that not every game is for everyone. That being said, I believe The Last Of Us is the best game of its generation and one of the best games to this date.

Gameplay

If there's something at which the game does not excel at, is gameplay.

The game was meant to be a "narrative experience". So, even when it was originally released the gameplay was nothing to brag about. In my mind, and based in the immersive nature of the game as a whole, the game is meant to be played on Grounded difficulty which removes the HUD and the more whacky-videogameish mechanics such as the ability to see through walls. This means, the game is basically a Stealth-survival game where most of the encounters can be played out without alerting an enemy and the few encounters which require a confrontation are intense and hard, making emphasis in that your character is not a super human and fighting more than a couple of enemies at a time is straight up impossible.

The shooting mechanics are quite satisfactory, you can feel the kick of the guns and the brutality of each shot and punch that connects. The lack of resources will make you scavenge every corner of the room and think twice before going all-out for an encounter.

Story

This. This is why this game changed the way videogames were perceived by the general public.

The story is superb, engaging, mature and thought-provoking. Everything in the world feels grounded, everything is as detailed as it can get. Every single inch of each room is a narrative medium to tell bits of the story. The characters are mature, human and grounded within the game's universe.

The Last of Us' world is a rough place, filled with despair and hopelessness and the game makes an incredible job in conveying the feelings, moods, and thought process of each character where every action taken by the character "makes sense" (unlike the sequel...).

It doesn't matter how many time I've played this story, there are section which hit hard every single time I play them.

Technical Aspect

Before anything, my specs:

Ryzen 5800X3D
32 GB Ram @ 3600
NVME 3.0
RTX 4080
3440x1440 UWHD Monitor

As of 04/08/2023 the game is not completely broke (for me at least), but... Oh boy did Naughty Dog dropped the ball HARD.

When the game doesn't stutter it runs flawlessly, however, the amount of raw processing power this game needs to run is unacceptable. Ultra setting do not improve in any meaningful the visual (unlike Returnal which is a noticeable improvement over the PS5 Version) and shouldn't really need an RTX 4080/ RX 7900 XTX to run above 60 FPS at 4K seeing how the PS5 version runs at 60 FPS in 1440P with what it is the equivalent of an RTX 2070 TI.

In any of the big cities or where there are multiple human enemies in an encounter the stutter I get is massive and this is mainly because of a CPU Bottleneck which it is absurd thinking that my Ryzen 5800X3D is way faster than what's inside a PS5.

I get that the console uses hardware-based solutions for streaming assets and because they have to translate the asset streaming to software for the PC ports, they NEED to brute force it, but man, that does not justify the poor optimization that Naughty Dog has in its implementation. Many try to blame it on Iron Galaxy, but IG was only a support studio, the bulk of the work was done by NG.

I understand that NG is a really specialized studio that doesn't have that much experience porting games over to PC in the likes of NIXXES, but something went really wrong here in order for a studio of this caliber to drop the ball so hard for the PC port of their flagship game.

IN SHORT
The game itself is awesome, the gameplay might not be to everyone's liking, but the story is unlike anything else out there. The port is poor.

Anyone interested should wait a couple of month until NG get their sh!t together.

I did know what I was getting into when I bought the game.

I have to be honest, the gameplay on this roguelite-bullet hell is superb, top-notch. Roguelites are not really my thing, but the quality on the gameplay mechanics is of such high level, I just couldn't put it away.

As for the port, it's top-notch as well. It is such an improvement over the PS5 release, however we have to be honest, we're getting to the point in which 16GB and a PCI-Express SSD is going to be quite mandatory if you don't want stutters during gameplay.

My specs are:

Ryzen 5600x
16GB Ram
PCI-Express 3.0 SSD
RTX 4080.
I play on an UWHD (3440 * 1440) on an Alienware AW32 Oled Display.

The game looks and runs phenomenal with every cranck up, I've been seen a dip below 60FPS. However, I did have quite a bit of micro stutters prior to moving the game from a SATA SSD to the PCI-E One. I still have some microstutters whenever I get into a new room, but chances are that this is related to only having 16GB of RAM.

To be honest there's a story which apparently is quite interesting, but I just didn't get it, however, at least it seems to be quite original compared to the generic storylines we get all the time.

Please do yourself a favor and give this game a chance. Gameplay is absolutely king in this game and if you're into rouguelites this game is definitely worth full price, if not, wait until a sale drops.

The game is awesome. I've already played it on my PS4 when it first came out. However this port is a technical mess. I actually had to refund the game because it was near impossible to get it running without some kind of issue. From my PS5 controller not being detected by the game (Yes I did try disabling the Steam Input), to random drops of the controller input while playing, to crashes and infinite loading screens.

Again, the game is great, one of the best action adventure games out there, however I would suggest to stay away from this port until they fix the port.

I played the game when it originally came out on PS4 and I've got to say... The game is even better than what I remembered.

The story is engaging, eventhough I knew what was coming, I was always looking forward to see it.

The gameplay is superb as it has always been the case for GOW, it's thrilling yet methodical, challenging (on higher difficulties) yet satisfying... Except on the highest difficulty, that's pretty unfair really.

The first playthough without completing anything else should take close to 20 hours which is a quite lengthy game but it never feels like it overstaid its welcome. If you're aiming for a 100% completion, then embrace yourselves for 50+ hours of one of the greatest games of the previous gen.

10/10 If you're on the verge, just buy it. This game is worth it even at full price.

I've been playing Biohazard games since the early 90's. They have had their ups (RE 2, RE 4, REmake) and their downs (Most of the spin-off, Code: Veronica, RE 6).

Now, When played RE 7, I thought it was a wonderful step in the right direction going for a more horror kinda game, but the game was far from perfect. It was way too short, the variety of weapons enemies, bosses and maps was poor. Nevertheless, it was a good game.

RE 8 takes everything that made RE 7 great and crank it up to 11 while adding a bit of what made other REs success, then it blend's it all together to get one of the best RE to date.

Mechanically the game doesn't change much from RE 7, your character still feels like a thank (it is intended by design), however it add the progress we saw on RE4 through a Merchant, albeit it is not as robust or "wild" as seen before.

About the gameplay this game is a masterclass in how to keep your gameplay loop similar enough to have some consistency while changing things just enough to never get bored. This games throws everything at you, full on action scenes, survival horror, straight up psychological terror, while retaining it's core survival horror gameplay (I Played it on Hardcore the first time and I never really became overpowered. Even by the end of adventure I had to keep on managing my resources wisely).

As for the story... I mean, It's a RE Game, it's convoluted, nonsensical yet entertaining , besides, it has many easter eggs for long time fans (I won't spoil any, but it has some really nice callbacks). The story is compelling enough to keep you engaged and looking forward for what's next. Finally, the story is more in line with the story telling of REmake than RE4 if that's worth anything for you.

In short, RE 8 is a successful mixbag of every great RE game to date while retaining the new FPS mechanics and core gameplay. It has the best of the "old" and "new" in the franchise. Easily on my top 3 RE games.

In the technical department. I'm aware the game had some issues at lunch but I played on a 32¨ 1440P monitor using a Ryzen 5600x, 16GB of DDR4 3000Mh and a Vega 64 and the game ran buttery smooth at 80FPS AVG (65FPS for my 1% low) with every setting max out. The only "issue" I have is the FOV, it's a bit narrower than I'd like, but it didn't cause me any dizziness.

I've never reviewed a game before, but this game is so good it deserves it. It's one of the best games of 2021 in my opinion.

I wouldn't pay 60$ for the game, but at even a 20% discount, is worth it

It a really bad RPG, however it’s a pretty good open-world action-adventure FPS with a somewhat lacking story, yet the amount of content and quest and overall things to do are just great.

I won't buy a Game from a company that does not support the game's community. Mod are from the community to the community.

In my opinion, the DCL is rather dull and boring, Not really worth unless you really want to support the devs (That's the only reason why I bought it).
