Oh so that explains the spike in votes it got, lol. That's cool! If people want items more akin to the Tundra Trucker/Classic TF2 style over the Santlers I'd definitely move more in that direction.

That being said, I'm not stepping away from the workshop, I just have different priorities right now as I'm working on the art for a CS2 level - but I'd like to come back and make more cool items when I can.

I hope the negative response that the Santlers received hasn't driven you away from the TF2 workshop. I think you have a lot of potential to make great items, and the fact that you're receptive to criticism already puts you ahead of many established creators.

I definitely do like the Tundra Trucker, and I'm not the only one; Zesty Jesus's viewers voted for it to be included in his Smissmas 2023 video. It's a fairly simple hat (which isn't a bad thing), and it fits well with existing winter cosmetics. I could easily see myself using it if it's added.

The concept wasn't my own, I just thought it looked nice and decided to make it. Clearly concept selection needs more thought put into it than just that though, lol.

TF2 item creation have been more of a fun break from what I normally do (realistic environment art) rather than a 100% serious endeavor (although that certainly doesn't mean I slacked on the execution side of things) so strict super adherence to art style norms wasn't a huge concern for me other than making sure the textures fit the style, etc. I see the standards of the workshop are much higher than that, though, and I missed the mark. There's always next time, though!

That being said, TF2 I've found isn't really my thing (CS2 seems promising) - BUT if I do return I'll definitely keep your advice in mind. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!

(P.S. Glad you like the Tundra Trucker! Or tolerate it. Either one is a win for me)

To FireKeep: I see that you're new to the TF2 workshop, and I imagine that you're still trying to find your footing. Your first cosmetic, Tundra Trucker, is infinitely more fitting of TF2's artstyle and tone than this is. There's no doubt that you have talent when it comes to item creation, it's just that the concept here is pretty lackluster. I hope to see future creations from you that are more in line with Tundra Trucker rather than the Santlers.
