Android app shows stale statuses after Oct 17, 2025 update (now fixed)

Update: This appears to have been fixed on October 21, 2025 with another update.

After the recent mobile app update, the status of my friends in the app is stale pretty much all the time. My friends mostly appear offline and any in-game status - like the current score in Counter-Strike 2 games - is stale. This is a major regression.

Restarting the app appears to fetch updates, so for a little while (a minute or so) the statuses appear up-to-date, but it quickly deteriorates. After that, we're back to having everyone marked as "offline".

I've tried clearing all local data and caches, but it has not resolved the issue for me.

The Steam client on Windows seems to work correctly, so it smells like an issue introduced with the updated mobile app for Android - not some underlying infrastructure issue.

Anyone else seeing this?

Yikes. I still haven't gotten anything in iOS. It has been 4 years since the last update according to the App Store. Did Valve manage to at least fix the notifications? Maybe improve the load time for the stickers? How about images failing to be sent?
