It's a RPG where the game is teaching you hiragana in a fun way. I've only played a bit of it, but the reviews seems great and i get the same impression for that tiny bit I played. I hear that a DLC will come out where you will learn kanji as well.
So if you are interestet in learning japanese, then i would recommend this game. I think i recall it goes from basic japanese to intermediate. Just don't go in and expect to know everything about the japanese language when your done with the game.
Also pen and paper on the side will be very helpfull :)
