Sorry to let you fine folks down, but I've been taking a break from trading recently and that includes sponsorship.

Technically a loan can be of any size--1 scrap up to hundreds of buds. But whether or not someone would be willing to make such a small loan is another story. But, you can make an application nonetheless and try.

Can i get lended 1.66, or does it only work with keys?

We don't really 'reject' applications, it just means none of the sponsors trust you enough to loan you some capital or they just haven't seen it yet.

I think as of now, we have enough sponsors but not getting enough applications for getting sponsored though.

Well, two ways I've thought of to help bring in more people:
1) For every 50/100 successful invites you receive 1/2 Ref.
2) If you invite someone and they get succesfully sponsored then you will receive 5% of the interest on the loan (after it gets paid back).
Not necessairly those numbers/percentages, just used them to give an idea.

Unfortunately, even that wouldn't necessarily help....Anyone who could benefit from this service might not know about outpost or might not be actively looking through trades. But, there definitely needs to be some more advertisement, so every bit helps.

Hello, this is a nice idea, although it will breed lots of people who just wants to get freebies and run. Dangerous market.

Besides that, I also have another idea I would like to pitch.
A personal 1-on-1 mentoring system. For example, a new trader might not need capital or is not able to get a sponsor, but instead needs direction and some personal coaching. Like for example, I had no mentor and had to figure everything out myself and it took a very long time, plus getting scammed. A mentor could teach the newbie a trick or two.

Also, there should be sort of a 'ranking' system whereby somewhat experienced traders can teach the newbies while the very experienced traders could mentor the medium level traders on things such as cash/unusual trading.

I would personally like a mentor who will teach me the ropes of cash trading. I've lost so much due to paypal scams that I'm afraid to venture out by myself. If any experienced traders wanna pass your legacy, pass it to me :D

I think what shawnee is asking about is whether we would give a short-term loan sans interest. So if he sees a good deal he can make a profit on, but lacks the 4 keys he needs to complete the deal, he can borrow the 4 keys and then return them after he flips the items. That was the impression that I got.

So far all the sponsorships have been pure keys. Items, unusuals in particular, end up being in sketchy territory for loans due to the fact that different people may value things differently.

As for a loan, I guess that would be under the same idea as sponsoring, so if a sponsor felt you were trustworthy enough to be able to pay back a loan (with some interest) then a loan is really the same as a sponsorship.

Do you ever do pure loans? As in, I borrow said amount keys, return said amount keys. Not necessarily borrowing keys to make a profit, just to complete a trade or something.

I agree, but getting members is difficult since non-traders/non-active traders won't easily know about this group due to the fact that the shear number of steam groups, and the fact that people don't really search for groups.

This is a truly fantastic idea, and it needs to be spread more!
