Request for Review of Long-Standing VAC Ban

I am writing to you with all due respect and a bit of emotion, hoping my situation can be understood. It was only recently that I came to discover my account was under a VAC ban for 1695 days. I had no idea about this previously, and, quite frankly, I do not recall ever doing anything against the rules or in disrespect toward the game that has been such a huge part of my life.

These were the years that flew fast for me: I got married, baptized my child, and gaming took the backseat. A few days ago, in a surge of nostalgia, I decided to go back to Counter-Strike, just to relive those 'old' days. That is when I first received this ban. It is heartbreaking to think I couldn't even log in, let alone enjoy the game that shaped so many of my early experiences.

I am not writing to dispute your systems or question your policies, but only to say that I never used cheats or any third-party tools of my own volition and have never attempted to gain an unfair advantage in the game. If this happened without my knowledge all those years ago, then I am truly, deeply sorry.

I humbly ask, is there any chance my case can be revisited? The opportunity to return to the sport now-at a different time in my life as a husband and a father-would mean more than it ever could have before.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this, and thanks as always for everything you do for the community.

the ban is PERMANENT. you cannot appeal a game or vac ban over the forums. steam support has nothing to do with game or vac bans.

stop making threads, the ban will not be removed.
The account cheated or some sort of sharing has occurred. (account, library or phone number)

VAC bans are permanent.

And don't bother sending a friend request, I do not accept them from strangers.
I understand that VAC bans are permanent and cannot be appealed through the forums, and I am not trying to bypass any rules. I only want to clarify one thing: I never cheated or knowingly used anything that would justify a VAC ban.

I was away from gaming for years and only recently discovered the ban after returning. I am not asking for exceptions — just explaining that I did not intentionally do anything to deserve it. If something happened on my account without my knowledge back then, I genuinely regret it.

I respect the policies, I respect the system, and I’m not here to argue. I just wanted to state clearly that I did not cheat.

cheat detected while the account was connected to a vac server = vac ban issued. using the cheat is not required. detection is what is required. anything that tampers with protected game files is a cheat, it does not have to give an advantage (skin changers are cheats)

you will not be told what was detected, that information only helps the cheaters and cheat makers.

Again, YOU cheated on the account directly, or some sort of sharing has occurred.. account, library or phone number.

Not an appeal forum and the ban is permanent.

We are all users here also, not sure what you expect of us.
I understand what you're saying, but that’s exactly why I’m confused.
I never used cheats, mods, skin changers, launch options, or anything that tampered with the game files. If something was detected years ago, it wasn’t something I intentionally installed or used.

I'm not arguing with VAC policy — I know the ban won't be removed.
I'm only saying that I personally did not cheat, and I genuinely don’t know what triggered the detection. That's why the situation feels unfair on my end.

VAC bans are never given without reason.
I understand that VAC bans are not issued without detection, and I’m not claiming the system acted “for no reason.”
What I’m saying is that I personally never cheated or used anything that tampers with the game. If something triggered VAC many years ago, it was not something I knowingly installed or used.

I’m not asking for the ban to be removed and I’m not arguing against the VAC system.
I’m simply explaining my perspective: I never intentionally did anything that would justify a VAC ban, which is why this situation feels confusing and unfair to me.

YOU may not have, which is why i explained that the ban could be due to sharing.

it doesnt matter if you used the cheat or not. what matters is the vac detected a cheat on the computer. doesnt matter if you knew it was there or not, the cheat was detected.

there is not much information your going to get on the forums. the only people here are other steam users.
I understand that VAC bans are based on detection and not on the user’s intentions.
But that’s exactly why I’m saying this feels unfair: I never knowingly installed, used, or ran anything that would be considered a cheat.

If something was detected on my system years ago, it happened without my awareness. That’s why this whole situation is confusing for me.

I know the forum can’t remove the ban — I’m not asking for that here.
I’m simply explaining my side: I did not cheat, and I had no idea anything could trigger a VAC detection.
Well, SOMEONE did and you are still responsible for those actions. It IS YOUR account after all...

Apparently you understand a lot of things about VAC, here is another thing to understand……

You trying to convince others that you don’t cheat doesn’t mean a damn thing to us. You may very well be telling the truth, doesn’t matter to us if you are
