Government is not a charity or surrogate parent

"Woe is me social security cut, welfare cut, medicare, EBTs cut, food banks in decline, etc"

It's called working, saving, and investing. Or is this an alien concept for some?

The primary purpose of government is enforcing property rights, providing national defense, enforcing social order, and development. While some resources can be allocated for social safety nets, it should not be treated as a money tree. Government is NOT a charity.

OT seems to have this distorted view where the government's primary function is supposedly for providing people with modern conveniences. That is not the case at all.

The young should learn to be self sustaining, and the old should have prepared for retirement. Don't expect other people (taxpayers) to bail out your mistakes in life.

Except the government and politics are prolly the biggest leeches that exist.
Living a luxury life with taxpayers money while bringing nothing of value.
Then we'll see later about the other leeches and who deserve help or not.

One day you might end up in a bad situatiion without you having made any mistake. Might be a disabling accidant, a deadly disease or something else outside of your control, that will ruin your life. I better hope you then won't rely on the help of other people and I also hope you won't complain about your bad luck then,

I honestly believe that society should help anyone in need with one exception: People wwho are not willing to help other people themselves despite being capable of doing that.

I won't. But I won't feel empathy if something bad happens to selfish people who don't care about other people, that are down on their luck.

Exactly. Not gonna think twice about endangering my squad because I never really had a grudge against the enemy soldier who makes as much money in his life as I do in a year, it's just the least I can do.
