Does anyone think Luigi Mangione is actually getting a not guilty verdict?
Let's just make the assumption that he is actually guilty for the sake of this debate. The trial has 12 jurors and for a guilty verdict you need all 12 to agree, a unanimous verdict. If even 1 votes not guilty, he will receive a mistrial and the prosecutors will likely try for a retrial using another jury.

But again it'll be 12 jurors so the chances of just 1 voting not guilty means another mistrial. But typically after 2 mistrials the prosecution will drop the case because it's too costly and "not in the public interest" to continue the case.

On paper a jury is meant to be unbiased and logical and judge with neutrality etc but in the real world, at least one of those jurors have likely certainly been screwed over by the American healthcare system, but if not, then they almost certainly know a friend or family member who has been. That makes it very very tough to find a full jury who can remain neutral.

Murdering someone is wrong, that much is clear. But murdering a billionaire who purposely screwed over millions of people just because they could not afford healthcare and suddenly people stop caring about right and wrong.

It's going to be a really interesting trial regardless.

I hope he's found innocent. Imagine what that would do? Health insurance companies would see we can take them out and not be found guilty. Our politicians refuse to advocate change, maybe this will.

Here, have some of my points.
The solution to a broken system that rewards cruelty and overcharging people for health problems is not to murder one or two people simply operating within the system as it is designed (especially when you consider the pointlessness of such actions doing nothing to change it), the solution is to change the system itself.

Many Americans would rather celebrate a pointless murder than vote for progressive politicians to push for the adoption of Universal Healthcare like every other developed country has.

Two things can be true at the same time. Something has to be the catalyst. It sure as hell isn't coming from our politicians, no matter which way you vote. They have way too much money invested in our suffering.
Was his lawyer able to prove that the CEO muttered a slur after he was shot?

Because that's apparently a legal defense these days.

Not going to get into a whole thing here but health insurance is basically a scam.

It's gambling. You're betting that you're going to get sick. If you don't, you lose.

How about receiving free healthcare for life after having to receive spinal surgery?

I mean, people get free healthcare while in prison.

Suicidal empathy. Don't support violent censorship.

But if he got a not guilty verdict then he would walk free. But if he's still guilty then he would stay in prison indefinitely while still receiving free healthcare. Actually... do we even know if it was really him who took out the CEO's life? For all we know it could have been someone else and he was the scapegoat in all of this. Even the pictures taken look different at the time of the event.

But I don't know much beyond that.
