Why has mobile gaming been on the decline?
I'm talking about innovation in the paid mobile scene. For example, it seems Monument Valley (2014) was the last innovative game on mobile. before then there were plenty of great new games on mobile. today it doesn't seem to be the case.

have devs abandoned paid gaming and in turn all hopes of creating innovative mobile games?

Mobile gaming sucks. I'd rather troll YouTube comments or hang around here than play awful games on my phone, I work nights, I have heaps of free time and even then I wouldn't touch mobile gaming with a ten foot pole...

because mobile game require the same amount of development time, but nothing to port them to, maybe?
Not saying all mobile games are bad because I play a handful of Mobile Games like Master Duel (Yu-Gi-Oh) and Ragnarok X; but in the grand scheme of gaming mobile games that are free keeps you out of the good content that you need to pay to get. Not only that but ads are very misleading which turns people off from mobile games itself.

I’m also not saying mobile games are dead because they’re far from it. Normies like old people and casual players are still a driving force in the mobile gaming scene.

For most mobile games rely on 1% to 10% of users for income the 1% to 10% who get addicted

"mobile gaming" was never good to begin with... and most of it is cash grabs and cash shops, with ads.

not to mention playing games on a phone with those tiny screens, or even looking at a phone all day, ruins your eyes.

have a nice day

I think that for any actual gaming, mobile is often just a substitute in scenarios where you cannot access the PC to play the game. I play OSRS which is a desktop game ported to Android, and it's fun to sometimes gather XP when being outside but that's a secondary way to play the game.

That's the freemium model of mobile games.
Numbers go up = dopamine rush.
And then, numbers will go up faster when you buy boosts or other perks.

because it is inconvenient for most people. mobile uses battery and can overheat easily. good games are harder to develop
Steam might be working to get games using ARM, so perhaps it will be just a few years down the road and you could play decent games on your phone.
