c++ internship interview
Basically I was interviewing for a software engineering internship position for a pretty large AAA game for their online services and went through the technical portion. I thought i answered the networking/c++ related questions thoroughly (even provided past personal projects to relate back) with confidence and within 25-30 minutes they basically said that they had heard enough and asked if i had any questions out of the allotted time. I tried to prolong it by asking some genuine questions for another 15-20 minutes and gathered some detail.

What does this mean that they heard enough to know about me? I know it may not tell that much given this information and it could be numerous amount of things. Any past experiences?

Edit: Yes it’s paid, around $50 per hour. I believe they still ‘are hiring’ since this is a role my recruiter had suggested doing (i was a final candidate for another role and got the short end of the stick, but my recruiter submitted an internal application for me for this current role)

Just keep interviewing, and don’t look back. If they’re interested in you, you’ll hear from them.

Also, never kiss butt in an interview and seem too eager to please (no one likes and respects that), and make sure they’re paying you. None of that “but you’re getting real world experience” BS.

Internships will put you to work, often doing crappy slave work where you’re not writing any code, but which is benefiting them. If their company and project is benefiting from your work, you’re entitled to being paid.

Good luck to you.

Why do you want an internship in the first place? This is literally slave labor. If they aint paying you, it's a waste of your time. It's better to have a minimum wage job as opposed to some intern job, because some money is better than no money.

It's good you demonstrated personal projects, that helps. Worth keeping those going to develop skills and maybe do side hustle.

Everyone is out to shaft you unfortunately, so if you can gain independence that is best in the long run even if you do land the gig.

Maybe they had other candidates booked for an interview, I wouldn't read into too much about them telling you they've heard enough.

Whatever happens keep at it, something good will come from your efforts. Good luck.
maybe the candidate was already decided, they just have to continue doing interviews because they need to say they complied with the amount of interviews they are supposed to do.

Depends, they could soak up lot’s of experience and learn from seniors. Even a year goes a long way, everyone can study and know how to do something, but the actual workplace is far more dynamic and requires adaptability.

My interns come out making over 100 per hour pretty fast. I think most on this site never had a job or really understand how the adult world works at all.

If it's just an internship they probably had enough, don't sweat about it, you will have time to show your knowledge afterwards, the most important part is to be able to turn this internship into a full paying job
Don't ask questions. It may feel like you cross examinating them when they're doing it to you by asking questions.

Ask what you're signed up to do and what do I get in return. I have already experience it this and is considered compensated for my knowledge.

The case is that internships are many times slave labour. Them don't someone who can replace themselves since they're hired to make it look like they're doing a good job.

When it's time to complain them go after the intern.

Why would any company hire interns on a software company when there's abundant of school students who are practicing it.

It's not the 16th century.

imagine going to school, high school and colleague most of your life, like 20 years on that, then you go out to get a job and it turns out you're worth nothing

If someone took 20 years to learn C++ they are worth nothing. lol No those brain surgeons make so much money you dont wanna know. They are in 500k foreign cars their first month on the job usually. Interns are not for that, they are for 2 year bachelor grads that the boss isnt sure about and doesnt really want to hire.

I think even a teenager could have understood what I meant.

As a business owner myself, by the way you put words in people’s mouths like that and try to gaslight them tells me everything I need to know about what it would be like working for or with you.

I don’t believe that you are a “hiring business owner”, or any sort of real professional.

I think only a teenager would have. Im not on here all day every day and doubt anyones claims who are. I run a business and have my own interns. And I wouldnt hire anyone that came in acting ignorant and like the world revolves around them. I dont even want interns in my shop, its a favor to them.
