Wi-fi PW not working?
So this is an odd issue and it has me wondering if it's actually broken.

My friends comp is not connecting to wi-fi. I can search the wi-fi, click it and it say's to add the PW, which i do. It searches for a min then tells me the PW is wrong. BUT the PW works just fine on the smart TV sitting next to it.

The only thing i can think is there is something up with the wi-fi in the computer. I think it has on board wi-fi, but i'm not positive. It's a low end cheaper computer and i can't recall the name.

Any thoughts on tracking down what is actually going on? Properties are not giving me anything other than improper PW, which is not the case. I tried some basic trouble shooting of the network and that didn't help. I'm going to see if it has a port on the back to hardwire later today. If not i guess a new nic card?

I dunno, thoughts on this?

Mac address blocking somehow?

is the router using wpa3 and pc wifi nic only supports wpa2?

blocking by mac filter (whitelist or blacklist) will connect, just wont assign an ip or allow any communication

could also be the wifi driver
get the correct one for the nic or mobo mfg or oem site

If it worked before, just try uninstalling the wi-fi card, blowing away the drivers, then restart. Let windows re-find it, reinstall it, then give it a shot.

seen this a ton of times with intel wifi cards.....only option is to get a new one or be driven nuts by random disconnections if the current driver does let it connect......

if you have a old USB wifi card laying around try it.....

If you are running windows 11, type "network reset" in the search bar, and perform it. And op, this is my name lol.

move the wifi box further from the tv.

rf emitters can jam each other if too close.
If it does not have a way to see the password as you type it (only shows dots) just open Notepad and type the password and double check it is correct. Then highlight and copy. Then go to the wifi said entry box and paste jt
