You're not owed a refund because you mismanaged your Rockstar account.
Rockstar isn't handcuffed to 2010 because you can't be bothered to use a password manager, or update your accounts when you change emails.
Recover your Rockstar account, and do a better job for future you than past you did for you.
Rockstar didn't do anything to you. Past you is to blame.
I got the game on steam not rockstar launcher. Your wrong rock star did do something that locked me out of games i get on steam. If they are sell the game on steam i should be able to use it on steam. No reason at all i need a always online system for a single player no online game. What is it with you people defending a billion+ profit corp.
This is no different then if you lost your steam account info.
Also rather than paraphrasing, maybe you should copy and paste the correspondence. Sometimes people like to paraphrase out the inconvenient details and instructions they don't want to deal with.
Regardless, Rockstar can require a launcher for their games. That launcher requires a rockstar account, which you made with a long gone email address. You can play your games when you can authenticate your account that's required to access the content.
The lesson here is, manage your accounts better. You didn't think they were important, and now clearly they are.
Rockstar game launcher was in the past added to rockstar games at steam.
We are steam users here, its impossible for me to say what old version you once had installed.
See windows programs and feature to uninstall rockstar launcher, if this help before DL newest rockstar game social launcher.

ps.
i also remember a past rockstar client launcher issue years ago, and i had to do that, but that was years ago,
The login / pw is next issue i cant help you with that, thats your info and rockstar issue with proof of onership.
Still require OP can login and see if this matetr what updated launcher matter, not the first time we have see rockstar launcher has issue with login.
i had to go offline and online to fix refresh login/pw page. they had a authentication issue + black screnn and hanging app, thats was 3 month ago ½years ago i think,
its not that simple to ID when app hang is it. ( where OP is in all of this, i do not know )
if rockstastar client is working and you get login / pw request then you know where what issue is to be handle.
And i have also seen a client hanging after a rockstar update and alot of authenticating issue.
and acording to rocksta server statur they do not have a issue, and yet rockstart discord server have other rockstart game user with login issue.
whatever the issue was, i dont know next day problem gone, this is what happend who has fixed what gamers might dont care, again you need to have worked with support then you actual care, i will rather know yes they aknoledge found a error then autodfix and no reply in our client, again we are over in now it work again and most gamers give a crap about it.
And lets say this work, lets see if you even will bother with a reply, not becuase i said so, more like so you help next steam user with it.
and raise a issue with re-install a game laucher to fix whatever issue was.
and worst part of this, we could all have done this first time, if reinstall launcher can fix it.
and we are not talking about our login/pw issue at all. ( and all the reset login / pw could have been avoided, on some of ours game devs webpage change security.
Games sold on Steam requiring the publisher's launcher isn't a new thing. Trying to oversimplify things and pretend any thing outside what you assume, or believe would have saved you from the hassle if it didn't exist might be more than a little childish and naive.
