Rules are rules, if you had followed the authenticator transfer guide your cooldown would shorter. Doing your own process without reading the instructions earns you extra cooldown time.

Sometimes being clever doesn't involve MacGuyvering, sometimes it means doing something boring and simple. And I promise you if MacGuyver had the instructions for something, or had the option to look at them, he'd read them before trying to improvise something. Improvising is a great skill, I love it myself, it's not a golden hammer though.
