Attempted scam to my account?
Hello guys, i might need help on this. This was a first time for me to write on this discussion but i need help and some insights.

There was a guy contacted added me, asking if i have buy a knife skin from CS2 (which i have not at all, i never bought anything from market, i dont have money to do so). he provided proof that seems legit i was going to get banned ( steam ban checker or something). he said he and his friend massive report me, and then he show that he make an appeal to request steam support to unban me but in the report says to contact email steamrequest.assist@gmail.com (i think this email is scam) and provide evidence that im innocence. I did what he told and contacted the email and provide some proof.

and then the support team said to add friend code to contact steam admin. which i believed at first and proceed to have conversation with him/her. the person gave me some certs to prove that it is a legit acc? (seems legit but i think its a sus). after a few conversation, the person send me a qr code for tng and asked me to transfer some funds for verification.(im starting to sus here).

after doing research and reading faq support from steam. I think this is a scam. but i might need any of your advice for this matter. already report both account for attempted scam.

sorry it happened, partner

this is often the middle of the scam

to be safe, do not trade and do these

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/

2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.

3. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.

5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App

https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

6. Revoke the API key https://test1.login.steam.hlxgame.cc/dev/apikey

(there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Its a scam. Steam support will never contact you via chat or discord. Block and report those people.

It may also be worth doing the following steps to secure your account, just in case the scammer has already gained access to it:

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://test1.login.steam.hlxgame.cc/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

You dont need a api key, you just need to make sure there is nothing in there.
oh okay so i dont need to register the api key or anything?

No, a normal user has no API key. If there would have been one, that'd be bad.
alright thank you.
just incase, is there any way i can check if i was getting ban or pending ban or something

No you wasn't getting banned. That is all part of the scammers scare tactics to get you to do what they want.
