Cannot get Steam app on iPhone to access camera (for QR verification)
To use the steam authenticator requires my iPhone 16 to read the QR code, but the steam app has no access to the camera.

Going into settings the camera option is not listed (it is on old YouTube videos so something has changed)

Has anyone managed a work-around?

Check this out

Thank you but it says to go onto the profile settings and change avatar, but I cannot seem to be able to find that either.

No problem, press on your icon (the question mark) in top right. Check in multiple tabs if you can’t find it.

Press „View profile“ and then „Edit profile“
After this, you need to press „avatar“, and then upload avatar.

After you’ve done that, press „Take photo“ and allow it.

Restart the app, and check if it worked.

If it didn’t work, check your app settings, in the settings app, if you’ve allowed steam camera access.

Thanks. This worked for me.

This is a ridiculous bug for a major publisher.

The solutions is nuts, but worked just fine. Thanks!

Omg thanks. It helped
I did that, the first time it showed me my camera so I could take a picture. Didn't fix anything. When I try switching avatars again, it only shows me my photos, doesn't let me just take one. And SteamGuard still says "This app needs access to the camera...". Settings do give it access... This is one of the worst apps I've ever seen...
Yep, my avatar is clearly changed and I can’t log into embark because of it. Tbf, Apple is only the second largest company on earth by market cap, so why would they support iOS?

Thank you after over a year of reinstalling and removing and adding permissions. This has worked.
