You get points for store purchases, awards and in game purchases.

Crafting badges doesn't spend money in the store or in game.

It's an idea beacause customers sometimes buy from the market with game cards. Personally I would love extra Steam points along with points for adding games i.e. for those that buy outside of Steam such as keys and bundles.

But I doubt Steam would do allow this.

But not directly from Valve. Market purchases are peer to peer transactions.
